Marathon Petroleum Co. says it's taking steps to cut down on pollution at its Detroit refinery under an agreement with federal regulators.
The Detroit Free Press reports Friday that the company says it's installed new equipment to control toxic air emissions in Detroit and will spend $2.2 million there to make more improvements. The actions are part of a broader settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency.
The company and the EPA have been negotiating a settlement since 2008.
