Worker at Department of Human Services opens envelope with irritant inside, HAZMAT crews respond

CLINTON TOWNSHIP., Mich. (WXYZ) - A worker for the Michigan Department of Human Services was being treated at an office in Clinton Township after opening an envelope with a white powder.

HAZMAT crews say the substance is an irritant that could cause skin burns and lung problems.

The employee was treated and will be fine.

Investigators are working to find out who sent the powder.
